Universal Studios Hollywood is a movie studio and theme park in the unincorporated Universal City community of Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is one of the oldest and most famous Hollywood movie studios still in use.

A national leader in exhibitions, education and research, the Museum was L.A.'s first cultural institution to open its doors to the public in 1913. It is the largest natural and historical museum in the Western United States, safeguarding more than 35 million spectacular, diverse specimens and artifacts.

Rodeo Drive of Beverly Hills, California is a shopping district known for designer label and haute couture fashion. The name generally refers to a three-block long stretch of boutiques and shops but the street stretches further north and south.

Adults: $10, Seniors (62+), Active Military, Students: $5, Children (5-12): $3, Children (-5), Museum Members: free. Has a great display of rare cars, and the intersection outside is the site of the Biggie Smalls murder.

A small hill with sweeping views and a Frank Lloyd Wright complex on top serves as an art park for the community.

Free 1st Tu of the month, except July and August. Displays fossils of animals – including saber-toothed cats, dire wolves and mammoths – that got stuck in tar pits during the Ice Age 10,000 to 40,000 years ago. Visitors can watch fossils being prepared. The Pleistocene Garden in Hancock Park, outside the Museum, has life-size replicas of extinct mammals.

Who wouldn't want to grab a Dodger Dog and enjoy watching a game of baseball in this venerable stadium which opened in 1962 and home of 6 time world champions? Also, for $35 you can get all-you-can-eat hot dogs, sodas, and nachos at the Right Field Pavilion.

LA's hockey team - One of the NHL's brightest young teams with stars like Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown. A fun hockey experience and a great, affordable way to experience the Staples Center.

$12, $7 student (includes admission to Geffen Contemporary). The permanent collection is fairly interesting, but the changing exhibitions can be more hit or miss. The museum has no 'traditional' art, so bring an open mind. The gift shop (free entrance) is fun for at least 20 minutes of wonder and awe.

America's most famous outdoor theatre hosts the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra as well as numerous other concert events. Traffic and parking can be a nightmare, so the $5 round-trip public shuttles [1] are highly recommended.

Feel immersed in a comic strip - over-the-top colorful architecture, talented street performers, dozens of restaurants (all price points), novelty shopping, an IMAX theater, and a NASCAR simulator. The outdoor "mall" is usually packed on weekends and summer nights, which adds to the energy and atmosphere. Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk hosts concerts from time to time.

You aren't going to 'see' much of JPL without a set of binoculars or a friend who works there. This is a national laboratory run by Caltech complete with a security check point. If you do have a connection to the place and can get a tour, the place is very interesting if you like space. JPL does have an annual Open House that is held on or around Memorial Day weekend (last weekend in May). During this event it is open to the public, anyone can go at that time. Other times it is closed to the public at large.

A bustling boardwalk whose huge Ferris Wheel is the city's icon. The long pier has an old-fashioned amusement park, with reasonable by-the-ride pricing, including a small roller coaster. The Pier has restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, and some street performers. At almost all hours you'll find at least a few people fishing as well. The Santa Monica Pier has terrific coastline views of Malibu and the Southbay. The Pier is within easy walking distance to the Promenade.
